Principal Project Manager (onsite/hybrid)


Position Overview

As a key member of the Enterprise Risk Management team, you will be part of AgriBank's mission to support the people who feed the world. The Principal Project Manager delivers large, complex, strategic, high-risk projects driving completion in accordance with project objectives for cost, scope, on-time delivery, and quality for the AgriBank’s largest and most complex business and information systems projects, along with projects of varying degrees. Provides direction to large and diverse project teams. Cultivates and manages relationships with key stakeholders and customers to ensure high engagement and transparent communication.

Duties Include:

  • Manages and drives large, complex, high-risk projects simultaneously ensuring they are completed in accordance with project objectives for cost, scope, on-time delivery, and quality
  • Ensures proper governance structure is in place to best meet project objectives
  • Ensures standard processes and best practices are implemented to develop project plans through research, gaining departmental involvement, scope, budget and time estimates, business requirements, decision, actions, risk and issue tracking, reviews/approvals and reporting as required by project objectives
  • Oversees and manages resource planning with functional leaders to ensure resource availability and required skill level satisfies the needs of the project and schedule
  • Manages changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate practices to plan accurate, updated, and reflective of authorized project changes
  • Drives and manages risk management planning with the team throughout the lifecycle of the project
  • Collaborates with security and ICFR team relevant to project objectives
  • Proactively identifies and resolves issues, escalating to leadership when appropriate
  • Develops contingency plans to provide an alternative method of keeping projects on track
  • Ensures project communication, training and organization change plans are developed and implemented
  • Leads planning to develop and manage detailed project cutover and transition to production
  • Measures project performance using standard tools and techniques
  • Determines which types of frameworks and or methodologies would work best within project work streams (Waterfall, Agile and Dev Ops, Lean, etc.)
  • Ensures defined delivery processes, required deliverables and methods are followed
  • Maintains compliance with and enforces company's standard policies and procedures
  • Contributes to continuous improvement and evolution of project methods and processes to address emergent requirements
  • Manages relationships with internal and external stakeholders, keeping them informed of progress and issues in order to manage expectations on project requirements and deliverables
  • Influences, enables, and challenges stakeholders towards commitment and execution of project deliverables
  • Understands internal/external customer requirements clearly
  • Delivers projects that meet business and customer needs
  • Promotes empowerment of the team by ensuring that each team member is fully engaged in the project and is making a meaningful contribution
  • Coordinates, prepares, and presents reports to the Executive Team regarding status of projects
  • Works with multi-vendor, and multi-partner solution implementations
  • Prepares SOW, reviews contract terms and conditions and supports client negotiations when needed
  • Drives process for selecting vendors for projects/processes
  • Facilitates decision making when vendor involvement is required for a project
  • Determines what tasks are to be assigned to a vendor
  • Determines if vendor is meeting performance expectations

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, business administration, finance, or related field
  • 7 to 9 years of related experience
  • Project Management methodology certification preferred
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Farm Credit systems and/or banking
  • Knowledge of current and new technologies as well as best practices

Skills

  • Skill in planning and implementing large/complex projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Skill in negotiating complex agreements to achieve the best outcome for the organization
  • Skill in organizing material and information in a systematic way to optimize efficiency
  • Skill in communicating objectives, delegating responsibility and monitoring performance
  • Skill in listening and conveying awareness of a problem or issue to find resolution
  • Skill in preparing and reviewing complex, detailed project plans and specifications in an accurate and thorough manner
  • Skill in writing concise, logical, grammatically correct documentation to explain project specifications
  • Oral and written communication skills, sufficient to exchange information effectively with peers, supervisor and customers
  • Skill in analyzing problems and recommending appropriate solutions
